Store for great fishing reel deals and other fine items for sale. All merchandise is clean and comes from a smoke-free environment. Thanks.
Here we have three vintage very high-quality spinning reels made in Italy (probably by Zangi). They are Ted Williams models 400,* 450,
and 500 reels.
In the early 1960s, after his baseball career ended, he imported a line of spinning reels from Turin, Italy, that were sold under the Ted Williams, Inc. label out of Miami. The reels were a handsome dark grey-blue and constructed of aluminum alloy that was virtually impervious to saltwater corrosion.
The reels for sale are in VG operating order, clean, and have been lubricated … ready to use if wished. However, they make for a fine set of collectibles.
Model 400 – Conventional full bail, spiral-gear/worm-gear (pinion) drive. Some dings, scratches, and finish loss due to use. The folding handle won’t loosen so it doesn’t fold (I didn’t want to force it for fear of breaking the handle).
Model 450 – unique bail-less line pickup system.* Models having this feature are quite scarce! It also has spiral-gear/worm-gear (pinion) drive. Some dings, scratches, and finish loss due to use.
Spooled with premium monofilament line.
Model 500 – the largest of the three. Conventional full bail, spiral-gear/worm gear (pinion) drive.
Each reel is left hand retrieve. Each reel comes with a handmade cardboard storage box affixed with handmade paper Ted Willams box labels.
